It's important to be an environmentally conscious parent not just for the health of my babies, but so that following our example, they will grow into environmentally conscious people themselves!
  • Anonymous · 1 year ago
I would love to win this bag for my future sistr-in-law who is due in February. I have learned so much from her environmentally-conscious lifestyle and have begun implementing some of her everyday efforts into my own life. As she is expecting she has refused to take traditional prenatal vitamins as they have been processed through metal equipment... she is hoping to not have her child vaccinated as there is research on its negative impact, etc. Her diet and exercize regimen has helped me lose five pounds, safely, just by decreasing the amount of sugar and sodium I intake as well as being conscious of locally grown vegetables and fruit to support my community. She is my inspiration, I know her child will be brought up in a safe, healthy environment, and I hope to win this bag as a small token for all she's given to me.

OMG!!!!! ARE YOU BOTH SERIOUS!!! THIS IS TRULY THE BEST GIVEAWAY EVER IN MY OPINION, ALTHOUGH THE OTHER WON YOU JUST POSTED IS PRETTY DARN GOOD TOO=) I would without a doubt love to get my hands on this as I know a lot of others would agree. I firmly believe it is important to be an environmentally conscious parent (even though I am not one at the moment) not only for the sake of your precious baby but also for you. Babies do not know any better, so as I parent I believe you should give your baby the best and the best is to provide them with an eco-friendly lifestyle. Not only for their health, but for their future. I can't imagine not providing my babies (someday that is) with anything else but being green friendly. Anyone's health is so very important especially a baby as they have so much growing and developing to do, so why not make sure that they live a healthy life. And because of your great example, you will set a fabulous example for others around you and so forth. Gosh, I could seriously go on and on, but bottom line let's make this earth a better place and bring up our babies with a healthy and safe lifestyle by introducing to them the benefits of living green/organic. This beautiful bag I plan to save for myself for when my husband and I have a little one (which we our working on now:) because ever since I have been researching the benefits of raising green babies, I found this bag and have wanted it since the day that I saw it and my hubby too=) I have also told others about it and two of my friends have already purchased it, which makes me SO happy. I dearly hope to get one someday and keep telling others about it. Thank you ladies!!!!!

I grew in the most serenely beautiful environment in Oklahoma. We played in the mud by the creek and recycled and honored Mother Earth so magnificently. As an eco~friendly MAMA I love instilling in my ds the values of caring for Mother Earth, and as these values become his, he in turn inspires others to do the same. It is truly set by example. Our children are our future! They deserve to live on a healthy and happy planet vibrating with peace!

The only way to really teach your child is by example. If you litter then think its okay. if you eat in a conscious way they will too.

    hetz-junk(at)hotmail(dot)com

  • Naomi · 1 year ago
Because we have an impact on the world around us and children need to realize that, even at a young age. I remember all the anti-litter campaigns from when I was little in the '70s and '80s and they did make a difference. Whatever responsible ethics we can instill on future generations is vitally important!

It's all about setting an example for my son and other parents along with the feel good of being conscious about our planets resources. Count me in! And thanks!
  • Laura · 1 year ago
It's important to be environmentally conscious as a person, and even more so as a parent. As an individual, we dont have the right to take advantage of earth's resources and leave them bare for the future generations, or even our own. It reduces quality of life. It's not hard to be environmentally friendly/conscious, just takes more effort. And for our kids, we're creating their beliefs and understanding of what's important. We're teaching them values. They need to learn being environmentally conscious is part of everyday life, not a choice.
  • KatieG · 1 year ago
For me it is important to be environmentally conscious because my kids are growing up in the environment we've created, as will their kids, and their kids kids. We teach so much to our children by example, why not teach them this as well.

    KatieG

  • judybrittle · 1 year ago
It is important to be environmentally conscious as a parent because the kids are learning all about the problems the earth is facing from years and years of abuse. They will learn what it takes to save our earths resources and what it means going green. They will look at the parent for guidance and answers. Parents need to be in the know for the sake of their children and the future of our planet.
  • Keyomi · 1 year ago
What we do to the environment is not only going to affect us in our older days but most importantly its going to affect our kids and the generations after them. What we take for granted today could be non-existant tommorrow. It might just be a thing left for future generations imagination! Lets join hands and think of a clean and pollutant free environment. We need to respect mother earth a whole lot more than we do right now!!

    thank you.

I think it goes back to the heart of parenting. We're preparing them for life in this world. If we destroy the world they are to inherit, then what's the point?

This is such an important topic! (And a great giveaway too ;)) I think its important to be eco-conscious as a parent so that you raise an eco-conscious next generation! Also, its easy to cause more harm to the environment as a parent by excessive consumption of non-biodegradable things (there are many such baby products)!! If we all try to parent in an environmentally friendly way, it will have an impact!!

I'd love to win this bag! It would make the next few weeks of bedrest a little brighter. I think it's important to be an environmentally conscious parent because we teach our kids to be responsible in so many different areas it would be foolish to leave this out. Our planet is a beautiful gift that we've been given, we need to take care of it.
  • Anonymous · 1 year ago
I think it's important to be an environmentally conscious parent for a whole bunch of reasons, but a big one is that the world of baby and kid stuff seems to be particularly disposable and potentially hazardous to the environment. My decisions in this arena seem like they can have a big impact. And of course, if I can raise my kid in a sustainable way, then she will live that way too (probably) and pass it along to others as well. Thanks for the chance for the cool diaper bag!
    Margie S.
  • Christina · 1 year ago
That bag would be perfect stuffed full of cloth diapers :) Although it's always been important to me, I became much more conscious of my impact on the environment when I got pregnant and it's only become more and more important. I was also influenced by my sister-in-law Flo ;) who is amazing and led by example with her own choices for her girls. All of the choices that we make as parents affect not only the current lives of our children, but also shape their view of what's important for the future. Doing what we can for the environment makes the world today a better place and for the generations to come.

Of course it is great to be an environmentally friendly parent because kids do what their parents do. If they see you doing well, trying to be less wasteful and buying green products they will grow up to do the same.
    It all starts at home.
  • Julia · 1 year ago
Being raised in a family that was not very environmentally friendly, it is so important to me that I set examples for my children to follow in my own home. As sense of responsibility and love for the earth starts at home! And of course sites like this are a great help to families to see what new products are out there! - Julia CP

I believe it's important to be an environmentally conscious parent because we are our children's primary role models. If we want the earth to continue to give to them, we all need to tread gently.

It is important to be environmentally conscious because we as adults need to lead by example. We need to instill "green" ways of living and thinking into kids so that the Earth will be a nice place in for future generations.

i think it's important because if we are not careful with what we throw away or not recycle today, can and will probably be with our children when they are adults. i personally don't want my grandkids growing up playing in a landfill do you? we need to show our children the importance of taking care of our earth!!
  • tchrmommy · 1 year ago
I love the philosophy of Seventh Generation - that the things we do we must do with consideration of our children, our children's children, and so forth. Children are incredibly impressionable and sensitive to even the little things we do - why not raise them with a profound respect for our world, and a sense of responsibility to protect it? There are so many little ways to start, too, and no good excuses not to make these small efforts. This bag, the products it contains, and the wonderful effort to donate proceeds are a fabulous start!
  • Jeanne · 1 year ago
It is so important that we make sure that our children realize that they can't take anything foregranted including the air and water that we all breathe and drink. It is so important that we try and connect our children with the environment around us so they realize that we share this planet with so many other living things around us.
  • oona · 1 year ago
I am teaching by example when our family lives an environmentally conscious existence. If my daughter grows up recycling, composting, reducing, and reusing, it will be second nature to her. She will take these values and use them in her own life. Living simply, "needing less", and growing one's own food are invaluable life lessons I am proud to be teaching my child!
  • Aimee · 1 year ago
Wow, what great products!! Their site was fun to browse!! I think it's important to teach our kids to be environmentally conscious not only because it's great for the earth, but also because it teaches them respect. Respect for our planet, and those who will go on ahead of us. We work hard to make sure our kids are involved in everyday recycling, as well as common sense stuff such as turning off lights, saving water, etc. It's really quite easy to do if you make it a priority!

I think it's important to be an environmentally conscious parent, because as children my kids are forming their values/beliefs. I think that by instilling in them an understanding of how we need to be kind to the earth (that's how I say it to my kids) when they are young, you are building their understanding of how their behavior impacts the environment. It is also important for me, as a parent, to model environmentally conscious behavior because my kids are going to try to emulate me with their own behavior.

I think it's important because it's just the responsible thing to do. We wouldn't not take care of our houses because we won't always be here, so we should take care of the huge roof over our heads from Nature. It's also just good karma...be good to the earth, it'll be good to us. :)
  • Bhav · 1 year ago
Children live what they see. Respecting our earth should come naturally to them. It is very easy for all of us including our children to get sucked into the concrete jungle, forgetting that we are responsible for preserving what is left of the environment. By doing our bit as parents, I hope my children don't think twice before they recycle, reuse, reduce etc.

being an environmentally conscious parent means thinking about and asking questions about the things you put in and on your child and the impact it will have for years to come...is this necessary? will it be around forever? can we do without it? what is it made from? how is it made?
it can be tiring...but it sends a great message to your child and the folks around you.

Great bag! I am totally environmentally conscious when it comes to just about everything I do. With the kids they were cloth diapered, share clothes until they are in taters, breast-fed then organically fed, taught that the environment is just as important as everything else. It is kind of my obsession...I blog about it at thedirtywork.blogspot.com!
It is also a great reason to be more frugal and NOT spend money on all the baby junk you don't need...

I'll admit that before I had kids I didn't think much about being environmentally aware. But I want to raise my children to have a love for our planet and a desire to protect it in any way that they can. I love hearing about anything that can help me reach this goal. I want to do what I can and by doing so help my children see that it's important to me and do what they can themselves. The book they have included in that diaper bag sounds really interesting. Thanks for the giveaway.

Becoming a parent 18 months ago has changed my life in so many ways. My husband and I are much more conscious about what we do every day. We buy more organic and/or preservative free foods. I have been cleaning with safer household product and we have taken a long, hard look at immunizations. We do little things every day, like recycle, but some of our major changes are what really matters. We want the most for our child and that includes a safe, healthy living environment. The bonus: it's better for us, too! We would love to add this fabulous diaper bag (and goodies!) to our lifestyle changes. Thanks for the chance!!

Being environmentally conscious means making my baby's environment safe, both as an infant, and doing my part for her future world! It also means making frugal choices. My mommy friends don't always understand why I don't buy all the disposable things they do, but I try to set an example :)
  • AGore · 1 year ago
It is extremely important to me to raise my son as environmentally conscience as I can. I am constantly thinking about ways to keep his life as pure and organic as possible. From the cleaning products, to recycling, to reusing products instead of buying new. I want his future and his Earth to be a better place than it is now and for his future family and children to be raised as healthy as possible.
  • Laura · 1 year ago
It's pretty simple really. We have one earth and one chance to take care of it. By teaching my son the proper way to take care of the planet, we'll be one step closer to making the world a better place for his future kids.

    thanks

To me, there is not a question of how I want to raise my daughter. This Earth is in a state of turmoil, and our foods are being poisoned by pesticides, antibiotics, and hormones. Buying organic is a choice that I make to give my daughter the best start in life possible. From cloth diapers/chlorine-free disposable diapers to paint that contains no VOCs and using non-toxic, eco-friendly house cleaners, she is being protected to the best of my abilities.

I hope to raise a child who loves and appreciates her environment and strives to do no harm. I can only accomplish this if my husband and I live a life that reduces our carbon footprint.

I think it's important because if we don't start doing something now and be examples to our children then things will just get worse. Our children follow by our examples and they need to understand that doing things that take care of our earth (the place we live) is very important!
  • thetnpreacherswife · 1 year ago
The importance of being an environmental parent: we need to normalize actions like recycling and valuing organic so that it becomes more of an everyday thing rather than something special, out of the ordinary, or "just something old hippies do." The best thing we can do is normalize those choices so that our kids pick them up as a part of everyday life.

Wow. I have to say that I feel like there is really no other choice for me than to be environmentally responsible, and I get tired of the implication that it is a political choice. Environmental consciousness is part of growing up as a reponsible steward of the planet and other people. If I want to raise caring children, and I have to say that I do, then I need to teach them to care for the planet as well as people, belongings, etc.

We've got to be deliberate about the environmental impact we make through our choices in order to set an example for our kids and to directly affect their health and safety for the better. I think we're all paying for the choices made by the last few generations of parents, but now that we have the wide-spread knowledge and means to do so, we must change.

My generation has a huge opportunity to make significant changes in our lifestyle, in our ecomonic system, in how we interact with our communities, how we spend our money and how we educate our children about a sustainable life. The climate scientists all agree that if we don't significantly change our lifestyles RIGHT NOW, life on this planet in one hundred years will be significantly different. This is the first time in American history where there is a good chance that our children's quality of life will be worse than their parents. Every single choice we make, regarding food, transportation, our careers, energy use, overall consumption patterns, and how many children to have, will have consequences that our children will have to live with. Green diaper bags are a part of that, as is growing your own food, supporting organic companies, and educating yourself and your children about the long term consequences of our actions, while still having fun!

I believe it is fundamentally irresponsible to choose to populate the planet and not make conscious environmental decisions. If parents don't make the point of setting an environmental example, who are we to complain that our children face a bleak, trash filled existence with global warming and exploited natural resources?
  • Purplemommi · 1 year ago
It is very important to care about the environment! This is our earth, our home and we are destroying it. We need to take care of our environment before we destroy it. If we love our children so much then we should want them to have a better world.

I love eco friendly products. The very concept of ecofriendly products is very healthy. Ecofriendly or organic products are risk free, pollution free and a boon to humanity. Irrespective of whether the products are edible or nonedible, organic products should be supported and used starting from first from our home. As a parent I accept the responsibility of creating ecofriendly awareness first to my children. I want to join hands in fighting global warming and refining this world into a pollution free healthy place for <a href="mailto:living.

It's important to be an ecologically responsible parent for the same reason that it's important to be an ecologically responsible human being- we're driving ourselves to the verge of extinction (sorry for the bleak outlook) if we don't change our behaviors of just me, me, me, use, use, use, everything exists for my pleasure and convenience. If we really want things to be here for future generations, we need to start planning now so the resources aren't completely used up by the time they come into existence! A minimalist consumer life is more satisfying, anyway- it lets you focus on what's really important, like your loved ones.
